this , that and blah , blah , blah

Hey all ! I am just in a talking mood tonight so bare with me .

I got a huge disappointment soon after I got out of bed . I turned on the tv and found out that Michelle Kwan dropped out of the Olympics because of a fall early yesterday during practice . One thing I have to say is I admire her for dropping out , even though I would love to see her go on and win gold , because she knows her body and it's limits and if she thinks that she can't perform her best due to an injury or whatever then she owes it to team USA to drop out so that another contender can come in and take her place . I just really hate to see her go ! I just watched Apolo Anton Ohno fail to qualify for the relay that he won gold in , in Salt Lake City 2002 however , he has four more (I think) events to qualify for so he isn't completely out , thank goodness . Yesterday 19 year old Hannah Kearney , the reigning World Champion in the womens moguls , failed to qualify . Her coach said she was worried about landing her first jump and therefore when she came out of the gate ,on the second turn she stumbled and didn't regain her composure throughout the rest of the course which put her at 22nd out of 30 competitors .

During church tonight my son starting looking a little pale so I put my hand on his forehead to check for a fever . He felt just a bit warm , nothing to get alarmed over but when we got home he ate dinner then went straight to his room , put his pj's on then got in bed and turned on his tv . This is very strange behavior for my son , normally we have to tell him to get his night clothes on and get in bed . My husband went in to check on him and called for me to bring the thermometer in and check him and sure enough , his temp was 101.8 so back to the doctor we go .

Our "snow" that we were supposed to get really didn't impress me so I am waiting with my fingers crossed that we will get some more another time , it was really pretty watching if fall though . Unless we get six inches or more , that sticks and stays , I won't be impressed .

And last but not least , I have a friend from church that reads my blog periodically and I just want to give him a big shout out . We will call him "W" ! Hey W ! Y'all have a good night and come back again when you have time and we will chat some more about this and that !

let the games begin !

Woohoo ! The time has come once again and as of earlier tonight , the 2006 Olympic Winter Games have started . For the next two weeks I will be glued to my tv watching all the events take place . I am hoping that Michelle Kwan can take home the gold in figure skating this year and there are others that I am hoping to see some gold for in different events . I also like the summer games but my favorite are the winter . I am ready to see what Apollo can do in the relay this year and I am really excited to see the skiing ! Wow ! Can ya tell I love the Olympics ? hehe . Y'all know what this means right ? I will be talking of nothing but the Olympics for the next two weeks . However , I didn't get to watch the opening tonight because we were gone but that is okay so long as I don't miss any of the events .

Our snow is coming in as I type . It started raining about 30 minutes ago and the meteorologists are saying it will change to snow quickly and when it does the snow will be falling hard and fast throughout the night and most of tomorrow . Anyways , I am going to sign off for now and go watch out my window for the first flakes to come down . I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend ! :)

let it snow !

I can't believe it ! We came out of church tonight to find the ground white and it was snowing like crazy . I am so excited ! It has been so long since it has snowed here . It isn't a big snow by any means but snow none the less . We have approximately 2 1/2 inches right now and it is supposed to continue to snow until about 6am so I don't know. I wish we would get a real snow which to me would be a foot or more , now that would be awesome . We are supposed to get another snow storm on friday that is supposed to give us more snow than this and I am ready for that too . It could snow asshole deep to a ten foot man and I wouldn't care ! I LOVE the white stuff !

It is so peaceful when it snows and it seems when you are out in it , for that time the world stands still and is so quiet . That is how it is to me anyways . The kids are all excited and hoping for a snow day from school tomorrow in which their wish will probably be granted because the tempurature just hit freezing a little while ago so the snow should start laying on the roads before long . Anyways , I just wanted to share my excitement !

reminiscing....

Today is my dad's birthday so first things first , HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!! Anyways , we went to my parents house for dinner tonight and as you know I recently lost my last two grandparents , my moms mom and my dads dad , within a week and a half of each other . My mom and I starting looking through all of the old pictures that she got to keep of her mothers and wow it kind of blew me away . There were many pictures that I had never seen . Some of them brought a smile to my face and some of them brought tears to my eyes . Most of the pictures were taken before I was born . Even though I know many great people , whether we are related or not , there is one person that I never had the privilege to meet and I wish I had . My moms brother Ervin . Uncle Ervin was killed in Vietnam on September 13, 1968 , seven years before I was born . He is the reason my parents met . My dad and uncle met in the Army and became friends and my uncle invited my dad to his house one day and that is where he met my mom .

I have always heard good things about Uncle Ervin and I love seeing pictures of him . He had warm , loving eyes and you can tell that he was a jokester just by the expression on his face and his smile was beautiful . Tonight I got to see some pictures of Uncle Ervin that I didn't know exsisted . Alot of them were of his childhood years , some of his teen years and then there were the ones taken of him in his coffin . I have always been interested in Uncle Ervin and the type of person he was but I never really wanted to ask because I know that it is a painful subject for my mom . Tonight my mom told me to come back over one day while the kids are in school and she would let me read the letters that he wrote to my grandmother while he was in the Army . I am so excited to read the letters and maybe understand a bit more about the man that has always piqued my curiosity .

Looking at all of the pictures of my cousins and I when we were younger really made me long for some of those days again . We use to have so much fun running around the yard and the hillside above my grandmothers house . We didn't have to have toys and all kinds of electronic gadgets to keep us happy , instead we took what the good Lord gave us , our imaginations , and we hit the door running and didn't come back in until we were called in for supper and sometimes we wouldn't go then and someone would come looking for us . When we would go in we looked liked we hadn't bathed in weeks because we had been playing in the dirt and jumping around getting hot and sweaty so that the dirt on us just smeared and ran with the sweat . Those were the days ! I think what I long for the most is being carefree . No computers , PS2s , gameboys , or cable / satelite tv . Back then when you stopped in for a visit you didn't stay a few minutes or an hour , you were there all day or at least half the day . Back then the majority of the time my only worry was when can I go out and play or what new hot wheels car I could talk my dad into buying me , I didn't worry about other things . There are alot of memories from my childhood that have been locked away in my head somewhere because of a bad thing that happened to me for years during my childhood and I guess the bad memories overrode the good so I don't always remember all of the good . It felt so good to look at those pictures and remember some really good times in my life .

So my question is , do you ever long for your childhood days and is there anyone in your life that you never met but would have loved to ?

what a weekend ....

I finally had the weekend I have been wanting . What did the weekend consist of ? Absolutely nothing ! I am so tired of running errands and being busy on the weekends and I have been wanting a weekend of nothing for a while now however , I am not happy about the way I got it .

My loving husband had to be taken to the emergency room at 11pm friday night and within minutes the doctor had him numb and was slicing on him . This wouldn't have happened if the stubborn goof would have listened to me on wednesday . He had a bump or boil , I am not sure what to call it , on his upper left thigh , closer to the groin area and on wednesday it was looking bad so I told him to call the doctor . He didn't listen and he kept telling me it was alright . On friday night within an hour this thing started streaking red , swelling , and hurting so he showed it to me and I had him at the ER in no time . It was abscessed and I bet if he ever gets another bump , boil or what ever you want to call it again , I bet he goes to the doctor like his wife (the one that doesn't know what she is talking about) told him to. I am glad they gave him pain pills because even with those he has really hurt and my husband is one of those that never complains about his aches and pains . Even though I am mad at him over not going to the doctor when I told him to , I do feel bad for him . So , I have had to stay home and take care of him this weekend and I didn't realize that doing nothing could make you so tired .

I am going to take two days this week to do nothing but blog and chat since I haven't had time lately . I really miss being on here as much as I use to be but I guess I better get use to it because once we start building I will be very busy and not around hardly at all . We are going to do as much of the building as possible on our own because we want to do it that way and because there is no way that we could stand back and let others build our house . We want to get our hands dirty too ! Anyways , I hope y'all have a good day tomorrow !

percussive maintenance ...

This post is in red because that is how my ears feel right now . Have you ever been so mad that your ears burned ? I am at that point . I HATE computers !!!! I have been trying to fix my old computer . What is wrong with it , you say ? Well first off , I have Bellsouth FastAccess DSL and when I purchased my new computer I wanted to have DSL on both computers . My old comp had windows 98 on it and Bellsouth told me I had to upgrade to 98 second edition or higher so I upgraded to 2000 , biggest friggin mistake of my life . I HATE 2000 ! Now none of my wireless equipment will work on my old comp because the installation disk says that it can't work with 2000. I bought that comp from a cousin right after she rebuilt it and nothing is wrong with it but when I upgraded to 2000 nobody told me that it wouldn't install some of my drivers . I am going to attempt to put windows xp on it before I have to buy a copy of 98se .

I can fix small problems that occur on my computers but this is driving me crazy . I have been working on that damn computer for almost seven months now and the honest truth is that I am no computer genius , I can find my way around one but when my system isn't detecting my modem or usb connector I have no clue what to do . If I could take my old computer out in the yard and use some hard core percussive maintenance on it , I would have the biggest orgasm this side of china .

Anyways , thanks for letting me vent for a bit ! Bye ....

tv and thoughts ...

Last night I watched "Flight 93" on A&E and of course , as I am sure it did all people who watched it , it brought 9/11 back to mind . I can remember everything about that day , the fear I felt , the sadness , sorrow and many , many other emotions . I was in disbelief about what was going on because I , being the naive person that I am , never thought I would live to see a terrorist attack here of that magnitude , if one at all . I sat glued to the tv for almost two weeks to see if any survivors had been found , if any new information was out , and the entire time I kept praying , for this country , the families and friends who lost loved ones in the attacks . Everyday I expect to turn on the tv and have a repeat of that tragic day because we all know it is going to happen again , sooner or later .

Saturday marked the 20th anniversary of a tragic event as well . January 28 , 1986 was the day that the Challenger exploded 74 seconds after take off . I watched the shows that were on tv saturday and my memory floated back to that day as well . I was 10 and I was playing a game in the living room floor in front of the tv and I couldn't wait to see the shuttle take off . I have not saw that footage since that day and seeing it again on saturday still made my stomach turn with fear .

Every morning when I get up I watch Good Morning America and this morning they had a lady on there that was talking about personal time on a computer while at work , for some reason Thomcat came to my mind ... hehe . I also thought of BSoholic and Damasta. Anyways , she said that every company , big or small , is watching every move each employ is making on the internet . She also said that these companies have to allow some personal time online during work hours because the workers don't always have alot to work on . Anyways , I thought that was interesting . I really don't have much to say tonight but I will think of something in the next couple of days ! Y'all have a good one !

dreams do come true ..

Have you ever had a dream that you knew would one day happen but you just didn't know when ? Mr. Breazy and I have had a dream to build a home of our own for several years now but we couldn't because the land we wanted to build on wasn't available to us , until recently . I can't tell you how excited we are ! We should be breaking ground in June or July . We have spent the week looking at house plans and finally we found exactly what we have been looking for . My taste runs more to the simple than the extravagant and finding just the right plans was really important to me . I want a country style home , two stories with the bedrooms all upstairs , a huge kitchen with an ajoining breakfast room and family room , and the most important , a wrap around porch . To me a big porch is a place of peace and therefore very important to me . Our biggest expense will be the kitchen because there are some specifications that I have for my kitchen and I will not be happy unless I have them . Anyways , I wanted to show you what the outside of the house will look like . It is called "The Homestead" . When I saw this one my heart stopped and I knew this was it . The inside is absolutely wonderful and it is exactly what we wanted .

So let me know what you think ! Soon I will post the inside plans but they are reversed so the writing on them is backwards . Once we get everything together and have the finalized plans in our hands I will post them on here . Y'all have a good weekend ! :)

a bit of this and that ..

Good Tuesday morning all ! As I was driving to work today I was listening to my favorite radio station , WIVK 107.7 , this is a country station and they have the best morning program around here . Anyways , they are always telling funny stuff on there and this morning they were talking about a 911 phone call from a woman who has an out of control 12 year old daughter . When the woman called 911 apparently she didn't think about what she was saying so she says " I can't control my 12 yr old daughter" , the 911 operator thought that this was one of the many prank calls that they get everyday and he replied " mam , what do you want us to do , come over and shoot her?" . Needless to say the woman didn't find this too funny and threatened to tell his supervisor . Once the 911 operator figured out that the woman wasn't joking about her daughter he asked her if the daughter had hit her or threatened her . In the end the woman was mad because 911 couldn't do anything for her since there had been no physical damage or threats . Upon hearing this it made me wonder just what kind of crazy calls like that 911 gets each day and the bad thing about it is that people like this woman that called are serious about their call . This woman actually thought that 911 was going to just send someone over to take care of her daughter for her . Pretty weird if you ask me . Anyways ....

My sister started a blog on myspace and she talked me into doing it as well . She tried blogger and didn't like it . She asked me if I wanted to creat a blog on myspace as well so that she and I could communicate via blogs and I finally gave in . My myspace address is http://myspace.com/breazy75 . There is nothing special about it and I do have to admit , I like blogger better but my sis has helped me a bit and I think I finally understand myspace , I still like blogger better but I will keep both .

As you know , my son has ADHD and he takes Adderall XR . He has been taking 20mg a day since November and once his body adjusted to the 20mg things have been going downhill . His grades have dropped , he is having trouble getting to sleep , he is very irritable and some of his ticks are coming back . I called the doctor back in December to change his February 13th appointment to as soon as possible and the closest they could change it was to Feb. 1st. I am doing all that I know to do to help keep the irritability down but I can't completely make it go away and once we do get to the doctor , she and I are going to have a talk about the nurses scheduling appointments . The Dr. probably isn't going to be happy about the nurses putting me off like this because she told me anytime that my son has problems with the meds to call and get an appointment immediately . I can't wait until our appointment because this is really hard on my son because he can't understand why the simplest tasks are now a bit hard to do. I will post an update on this after the appointment .

I have been really busy trying to get back in the groove of things after being sick and therefor I haven't had alot of time to post and read other blogs . I apologize for this and I hope to be back to "blogging" normal soon . Y'all have a good day !

Do you own a cell phone ?

Do you have a cell phone ? If so then please read on .

I recieved an email earlier today about a subject that I had entirely forgot about . As of January 20, 2006 all cell phone numbers were released . That means that telemarketers can call you now and if they do guess what ? you are charged minutes for their calls . So I have some info that I thought I would pass along to you to keep this from happening .

You can register your cell number on a DO NOT CALL list and the telemarketers can't call you . The number is 1-888-382-1222 and you have to call from the cell # that you want to register . You do not talk to anyone , it is automated . The call will only take about 50 or 60 seconds and you are protected for 5 years . If you don't want to call that number or you want more info on the matter , go to donotcall.gov and read about it and you can aslo register on this site . Hope this helps you out . I just made the call a few minutes ago and it only took like 50 seconds if that long to do it . All you have to do is choose the language that you prefer , choose what you are calling for then enter your cell # starting with the area code . It is very easy and well worth it . If a pesky telemarketer happens to slide through and get your # you can also file a complaint through the website.

Y'all have a good evening ! :)

on the mend ....I hope

Hey all ! I feel as if it has been a hundred years since I have been on here . I have missed reading your blogs and chattin with some of you on yahoo but I have been very sick this week . After getting over strep throat , I thought I had a sinus infection , which I did but that wasn't all that I had . I also had bronchitis and let me tell you , it has kicked my butt thoroughly . The couch and my bed have served as my two best companions over the past few days but I was glad to get away from them today . This is the first day that I have been able to breath through my nose since sunday and my nose is raw and peeling from all the wiping . My nose looks like I have dried snot all around it from the peeling so , yeah , I am looking real frickin good right now ! hehe! I am just glad to be out of bed even if I am weak as a new kitten .

Anyways , I didn't have anything important to post about but I wanted to post something so there ya go ! I hope all of you are doing well ! Have a good day and Happy HNT!

rest and sickness .. ack!!!

Mr. Breazy and I took our night away on friday and it was wonderful . I haven't slept so well in a while . We woke up on saturday to snow coming down however , it only stuck on the cars and grass . We met another couple for breakfast then we went shopping . We finally made it to the new Bass Pro Shop in Sevierville and I have to say that we both were a bit disappointed . It was not all it was cracked up to be so we purchased each of the kids and my hubby a shirt and left .

Last week Mr . Breazy and I both had strep throat , I have antibiotics that I am taking and I felt really good friday and saturday but I got up on sunday with my sinuses bothering me . By sunday night I was miserable and all day today has been horrible . All I have got accomplished today is holding down the couch with a hellacious sinus infection and my doctor wasn't in office today so tomorrow I will go and find out exactly what all is going on now . I am surprised that this sickness is coming on since I am on antibiotics already but they must not be working well . I think that we have had more sickness since June than any other time and I don't understand it because we all take vitamins and eat healthy so why are we sick all the time . I have disinfected the house so much that a brain surgeon should be able to perform surgery on my living room floor . Oh well , maybe this is the last of it . The weather isn't helping much either , we have two days of spring like weather then we will have a week of "freeze your arse off " weather so our bodies don't have time to adjust to either .

Anyways , that is all that is going on my way , how is everything your way ?

it's friday 13th ...

Here we are again , Friday the 13th . If you are superstitious or you know someone that is , then you know some of the things that people will not do today . For instance , this nation alone will loose $750 million dollars today because alot of people will not shop on friday the 13. Here are some things that we are discouraged to do on friday 13th :
the Navy will not launch a ship ,
Nasa will not launch a shuttle,
buy a car,
close on a house ,
go sky diving ,
get married,
have a baby ( in most cases we have no power over this one),
go on a first date ,
and the list goes on and on . I myself don't have a problem with friday the 13th but my husband , as I have said before , is very superstitious . The funny thing about that is Mr. Breazy was born on March 13 which rolls around on friday every few years . My husband would prefer to stay as close to home as possible on friday the 13th because he thinks that if you are at home then that decreases your chance for bad luck to strike . We are supposed to go away for tonight , just he and I, and I am waiting for him to realize that it is the 13th because he will probably call and tell me that we can still be alone but we need to stay home . What is it about friday the 13th that gets a bug up peoples butts? Have you ever noticed in multi-floored buildings , for those that go above 12 floors, there is not a 13th floor ? It is kind of like standing in line to make a purchase and your total comes to $6.66 , this one I do make the cashier change by either adding something to my purchase or by giving her/him an extra penny .

You can look back through history and notice that anything that was done on a friday the 13th or has the number 13 in it , something has went wrong . Is that because everybody is expecting bad things to happen or what ? I may never know but I do believe that if we are looking for bad things to happen then bad things will happen , but then again I am not superstitious except for the 666 thing . So , my last question is , what will you do today ? Will you NOT do things that you would normally do because it is friday 13th or will you go on about your business as if it is any other day ? If you have any weird superstitions tell me about them in the comments , let me know how you feel about friday the 13th . Y'all have a good day ! :)

Good book report...

Students were assigned to read 2 books, "Titanic" & "My Life" by BillClinton. One smart-ass student turned in the following book report, with the
proposition that they were nearly identical stories! His cool professor gave
him an A+ for this report:

Titanic -- $29.99
Clinton -- $29.99

Titanic -- Over 3 hours to read
Clinton -- Over 3 hours to read

Titanic -- The story of Jack and Rose, their forbidden love, and subsequent catastrophe.
Clinton -- The story of Bill and Monica, their forbidden love, and subsequent catastrophe.

Titanic -- Jack is a starving artist.
Clinton -- Bill is a bullshit artist.

Titanic -- In one scene, Jack enjoys a good cigar.
Clinton -- Ditto for Bill.

Titanic -- During ordeal, Rose's dress gets ruined.
Clinton -- Ditto for Monica.

Titanic -- Jack teaches Rose to spit.
Clinton -- Let's not go there.

Titanic -- Rose gets to keep her jewelry.
Clinton -- Monica's forced to return her gifts.

Titanic -- Rose remembers Jack for the rest of her life.
Clinton -- Clinton doesn't remember Jack.

Titanic -- Rose goes down on a vessel full of seamen.
Clinton -- Monica...oooooh, let's not go there, either.

Titanic -- Jack surrenders to an icy death.
Clinton -- Bill goes home to Hilary...basically the same thing.

A Blonde Picnic

There were these two blondes driving along the highway looking
for a place to stop and picnic. The first blonde says,
"Let's stop here, and have our picnic under that tree."
The other says, "No! Let's have it right here in the middle of
the road."

They argued about it for a bit, but finally agreed to have it in
the middle of the road.
All of a sudden, a car comes speeding towards them and has to
swerve into the tree to keep from hitting them.
The one blonde says to the other,
"See? If we were under that tree, we'd be dead now!"

What the hell are you doing ?

As the woman passed her daughter's closed bedroom door, she heard a strange buzzing noise coming from within. Opening the door, she observed her daughter giving herself a real workout with a vibrator.
Shocked, she asked, "What in the world are you doing?"

The daughter replied, "Mom, I'm thirty-five years old, unmarried, and this thing is about as close as I'll ever get to a husband. Please, go away and leave me alone."

The next day, the girl's father heard the same buzz coming from the other side of the closed bedroom door. Upon entering the room, he observed his daughter making passionate love to her vibrator.
To his query as to what she was doing, the daughter said, "Dad, I'm thirty-five years old, unmarried, and this thing is about as close as I'll ever get to a husband. Please, go away and leave me alone."

A couple days later, the wife came home from shopping trip, placed the groceries on the kitchen counter, and heard that buzzing noise coming from, of all places, the family room. She entered that area and observed her husband sitting on the couch, downing a cold beer, and staring at the TV.The vibrator was next to him on the couch, buzzing like crazy.

The wife asked, "What the hell are you doing?"

The husband replied, I'm watching the ball game with my son-in-law."

my favorite things..

I love to read and this is one of my favorite series of books . I have four copies of these books , two in paperback and two hardcover. I use one of the paperback copies as a " loaner" copy . If you like romance , history , Scotland , learning about rituals and superstitions with a bit of time travel , then you will enjoy these books . Also if you like books that always have you guessing what is going to happen next then you will enjoy these books . Aside from Nora Roberts , Diana Gabaldon is my favorite author .

Outlander : In 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon--when she innocently touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach--an "outlander"--in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of our Lord...1743. Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire's destiny is soon inextricably intertwined with Clan MacKenzie and the forbidden Castle Leoch. She is catapulted without warning into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life ...and shatter her heart. For here, James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a passion so fierce and a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Dragonfly in Amber : For twenty years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland’s majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones ... about a love that transcends the boundaries of time ... and about James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his....Now a legacy of blood and desire will test her beautiful copper-haired daughter, Brianna, as Claire’s spellbinding journey of self-discovery continues in the intrigue-ridden Paris court of Charles Stuart ... in a race to thwart a doomed Highlands uprising ... and in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves....

Voyager : Their passionate encounter happened long ago by whatever measurement Claire Randall took. Two decades before, she had traveled back in time and into the arms of a gallant eighteenth-century Scot named Jamie Fraser. Then she returned to her own century to bear his child, believing him dead in the tragic battle of Culloden. Yet his memory has never lessened its hold on her... and her body still cries out for him in her dreams.
Then Claire discovers that Jamie survived. Torn between returning to him and staying with their daughter in her own era, Claire must choose her destiny. And as time and space come full circle, she must find the courage to face the passion and pain awaiting her...the deadly intrigues raging in a divided Scotland... and the daring voyage into the dark unknown that can reunite—forever doom—her timeless love.

Drums of Autum: Cast ashore in the American colonies, the Frasers are faced with a bleak choice: return to a Scotland fallen into famine and poverty, or seize the risky chance of a new life in the New World - menaced by Claire's certain knowledge of the coming Revolution. Still, a Highlander is born to risk - and so is a time-traveler. Their daughter, Brianna, is safe - they think - on the other side of a dangerous future; their lives are their own to venture as they will. With faith in themselves and in each other, they seek a new beginning among the exiled Scottish Highlanders of the Cape Fear, in the fertile river valleys of the Colony of North Carolina. Even in the New World, though, the Frasers find their hope of peace threatened from without and from within; by the British Crown and by Jamie's aunt, Jocasta MacKenzie, last of the MacKenzies of Leoch. A hunger for freedom drives Jamie to a Highlander's only true refuge: the mountains. And here at last, with no challenge to their peace - save wild animals, Indians, and the threat of starvation - the Frasers establish a precarious foothold in the wilderness, secure in the knowledge that even war cannot invade their mountain sanctuary.

The Fiery Cross : The year is 1771, and war is coming. Jamie Fraser’s wife tells him so. Little as he wishes to, he must believe it, for hers is a gift of dreadful prophecy — a time-traveler’s certain knowledge. Born in the year of Our Lord 1918, Claire Randall served England as a nurse on the battlefields of World War II, and in the aftermath of peace found fresh conflicts when she walked through a cleftstone on the Scottish Highlands and found herself an outlander, an English lady in a place where no lady should be, in a time — 1743 — when the only English in Scotland were the officers and men of King George’s army. Now wife, mother, and surgeon, Claire is still an outlander, out of place, and out of time, but now, by choice, linked by love to her only anchor — Jamie Fraser. Her unique view of the future has brought him both danger and deliverance in the past; her knowledge of the oncoming revolution is a flickering torch that may light his way through the perilous years ahead — or ignite a conflagration that will leave their lives in ashes....

The Outlandish Companion:
This book answers any and all questions that you will have after reading these books . It also goes into the background of some of the characters that weren't detailed in the books .

This is the only book that I have not read and that is because I haven't as yet purchased it .
A Breath of Snow and Ashes: The year is 1772, and on the eve of the American Revolution, the long fuse of rebellion has already been lit. Men lie dead in the streets of Boston, and in the backwoods of North Carolina, isolated cabins burn in the forest. With chaos brewing, the governor calls upon Jamie Fraser to unite the backcountry and safeguard the colony for King and Crown. But from his wife Jamie knows that three years hence the shot heard round the world will be fired, and the result will be independence -- with those loyal to the King either dead or in exile. And there is also the matter of a tiny clipping from The Wilmington Gazette, dated 1776, which reports Jamie’s death, along with his kin. For once, he hopes, his time-traveling family may be wrong about the future.

Ladies , if you ever have the chance or the desire to read some historical romance , I suggest these . Not only are they a wonderful read but they also have many factual bits of information on Scotland and it's history .

humbled..

Have you ever had someone to do something for you that humbled you , something that left you speechless and in tears , a thought so sweet that you really have no words to describe how it has touched your heart ?

Through the losses that my family has suffered I have recieved numerous phone calls of sympathy , many prayers and there have been plenty of shoulders for me to shed my tears on but something arrived in the mail today that has just completely humbled me . As I sit here typing this I have tears streaming down my face at this persons thoughtfulness . It might not seem like a huge gesture to anyone other than myself , but huge it is . I am overwhelmed with emotion right now and I really don't have words to tell you exactly what I am feeling .

So what came in the mail today you ask ? It was a sympathy card and the thing that has humbled me the most is the fact that I have never met this person face to face . I don't think we have ever even chatted on Yahoo other than in Trivia . Other than that ,we have talked through the comments section on various blogs and we have emailed back and forth a few times . I am not going to mention this persons name as of yet because I don't know if she would want me to but I will tell you this , she has touched my heart in a way that no other person ever has . I will tell you what the inscription on the card said but I am going to keep the handwritten part to myself . The inscription reads " May He bless and guide you through this difficult time." Wow , that is a very powerful statement if you ask me .

So the purpose of this post is to say thank you, to the sender ,for the card , the prayers and the thoughtfulness that was behind it . Also I wanted to let everybody know that there are still some really good people out there . My husband has always been kinda iffy about me talking to others online and letting them in my life a little but this morning when that card arrived , even he had a tear in his eye because someone that I have never met , other than online , was so thoughtful . So , once again , thank you from the bottom of my heart ! If any of you ever know that someone is going through or dealing with a difficult situation and you think about sending an email or a card , do it because it could make a difference . Y'all have a wonderful weekend , I know I will !

Woohoo ! The weekend is almost here ...

I am so excited about tomorrow arriving . Mr. Breazy is taking me away for the night and I am going to sleep , sleep and sleep some more ! We are going to rent a couple of movies and I want comedy so I have heard from a reliable source that Shawn of The Dead is awesome so I will be viewing it . I am so ready for some R&R . I attended my great-uncles funeral ,#5 in two weeks , tonight and I have to say that I hope I don't have to grace the doors of another funeral home for years to come . The smell of flowers make me gag now and I can tell you every little thing that is wrong with the walls in the Trinity Chapel at Smiths Mortuary .

My ten year old has been sick all day and if she doesn't feel better by morning she will be going to the doctor . When I told her to get dressed so I could take her to the doctor , she cried and told me she didn't want another shot . The last time that she went to the doctor due to illness , she had strep throat and they gave her a shot . She wasn't a happy camper !

We are having snow showers tonight and it is so peaceful and quiet outside . Have you ever noticed how peaceful it is outside when it is snowing or is it just me ? We aren't expecting any accumulation other than a dusting but still the excitement before the snow falls and during is wonderful .

If you want something interesting to read , check out the post over on Brian's blog . It is a really good post but his always are . I also want to thank Logo for doing the HNT match game on Highjacked .

I want to thank each and every one of you who have left comments of kind words reguarding all the deaths that my family has endured lately . You all mean so much to me and I honestly don't know what I would do without you . I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow and a good weekend ! Later ...

1/6/06 7:35am:UPDATE: going away for the night is not gonna happen . Our ten year old daughter woke up very sick this morning so we are waiting on the doctor to call us back for an appointment . Oh well , maybe soon .

you're not going to believe me but ....

As I mentioned in my previous post , my papaw passed away on Saturday . And as you know , my grandmother passed away on December 19 . Okay here goes the "you're not going to believe me" part , my papaw had three brothers and one sister . One of the brothers passed away , due to cancer , about five years ago . On December 26 , 2005 one of the other brothers passed away , which this is the one that I mentioned in the previous post that I didn't like very well . Then on Saturday December 31,2005 my papaw passed away due to heart failure . This morning as we were getting ready to go to my papaws funeral and burial my phone rang . It was my mom and she called to tell me that my papaws last remaining brother passed away at one o'clock this morning , loosing his 15 year battle with Alzhiemers . Can you believe this? Now the only one of my papaws siblings still living is his only sister . I can't imagine how that woman feels . I am going to go over and visit with her tomorrow just to see if she needs anything and make sure she is okay .

Everybody says death comes in threes but we are on four if you want to count family and five if you want to add friends , so what now ? When I called to tell my husband that my great-uncle had passed away I told him he better hurry up and get a divorce because at this point anyone related to me or any of my family was doomed . hehe , I know that was probably lame but I needed a laugh at the time .
I am just physically and mentally drained and I don't think I could cry anymore if my life depended on it because I have cried myself into a huge headache today .
Please don't think that I am wanting pity , I'm not . I just need to vent a bit more .

I really appreciate all of your kind words on my previous post . I love y'all , you're the best blogger friends anyone could ever have and I feel honored to have you all as friends . Right now I am feeling a bit better spiritualy than I was before because I know that my papaw is where he wanted to be . I know he is in Heaven and I bet he is having a good ole time with all those that went before him . However, the flesh and blood side of me isn't getting on as easy as my spiritual side . I think a couple days of rest and relaxation will help me a bit because I haven't rested well in over two weeks .

I hope each and every one you have a wonderful evening ! *HUGS*

glad to see 2005 go ...

I can't remember ever finishing a year out so badly . As you all know my grandmother passed away on December 19th . She had been ill for a while then she contracted pneumonia which caused her heart to give out . That was a hard time for my family with her death being so close to christmas and all . We were all happy that she wasn't suffering anymore but still we had the usual seperation to deal with . The day after my grandmother passed , my husband , my two youngest kids and I spent most of the day in bed sick with the worst stomach virus I have ever had . On Thursday December 22nd we buried my grandmother next to my grandfather who had been gone since 1986 . The next day my papaw , my dad's dad and my only living grandparent , had to be rushed to the emergency room because no one could get him awake and he was bleeding out of his mouth .

My papaw had just had to have a partial amputation done on his right leg in November . Thankfully he didn't have pneumonia but he did have staff infection in his leg from the surgery . The doctors kept saying that papaw was coming home in a few days but Friday night his heart started failing and at 6:15 yesterday morning he passed away . I didn't even know that his heart had started failing the night before so when my mom called and woke us up at 7am to tell us the news, I was a bit shocked I guess you could say . I have broke down in front of my husband a couple of times but other than that I feel very numb . Tomorrow evening from 6 to 8 were are having the recieving friends and then on Tuesday we will have the funeral at 2 and then bury him . It is all so final to me right now, I mean we buried my grandmother not even two weeks ago and three weeks ago I had two grandparents , one on each side , now I have NONE . I keep trying to tell myself that we knew it was coming but it seems a bit too sudden to me .

This past Wednesday I attended two funerals , one was my papaws brother and the other was my close friends mother-in-law. What is up with all the death? I have to admit that I didn't like my great-uncle but out of respect for his family I made an appearance . I hope this post didn't bring anyone down because that is not my intent . I just needed to vent a bit and I didn't want the kids to hear me venting . Thanks all !

Do you have a New Years resolution ?

Here we are getting ready to start a brand new year and I am wondering how many people are making resolutions and what those resolutions are . Did you know that 95% of the people that make a new years resolution end up breaking them by the end of January ? They sure do ! It makes me wonder why year after year , people keep making those resolutions when they know they won't be kept .

My thing is that I can't sit and think about things or I will never get it accomplished . If there is something I am wanting to do I try to ease myself into it . For instance , in the spring I told myself that I was going to quit smoking and that was that ! But I didn't ease myself into it , I kept thinking " I have to quit , I have to quit" and I ended up smoking more than double my usual amount , so now I have cut down more than ever before and my key is that I don't think about it . Instead I think about the taste of a cigarette or the smell it leaves on my clothes . I don't smoke in the house either , that would kill me because , believe it or not , I can't stand the smell of cigarettes . The kids are always telling me I need to quit and that bothers me so I am really getting it accomplished this time . I smoke the short cigarettes and I can't smoke a full one anymore , which is a huge accomplishment for me . I also want to loose weight but I am not going to drill it into my brain or do the "don't eat that it has x amount of carbs or x grams of fat " chant or I will go the opposite way , instead I will find more time to go walking and buy healthier foods .

So , have you made a New Years resolution and if so , what is it and have you been successful with previous resolutions ? My curious little mind just wants to know . :) If I was going to make a resolution this year , it would be that I would be a better person to any and all . I am not a bad person , mind you , but every single one of us can use some improving . Have a good day !

Happy New Years !!!

so on with life we go ...

I still haven't found my cluster that came off of my wedding band but I went the next day and ordered another ring set . My old ring is 1 and a 1/2 ct diamond cluster and I have always thought that was a bit much but it is what Mr. Breazy wanted me to wear so this time I bought something much smaller but to me it is just as pretty . It is three rings combined with a small cluster on one and then one that has diamonds in the band that wraps around the cluster , then a tiny plain band that sits with them . I will have my new ring in about three weeks because they sent it off for sizing and to sauter all three together . Other than that life is going great !

I got all of my christmas decorations taken down and put away today . This is the first time I have had a spare day to take everything down and then I had to rearrange the furniture in living room . My christmas tree is huge and I always have to rearrange the furniture because I want the tree in front of our big front window . Normally I take all of my christmas decorations down the day after christmas but this year I have had way too much to do . Anywyays , all is well here in my corner of the woods , how is it where you are ?

OMG!!!!! This isn't happening ...

I seem to have had a big , black cloud of bad luck hanging over my head the past two weeks and after this weekend I thought " ok , maybe it is gone now since nothing has happened in a day or two" . Oh how wrong I was ! Mr. Breazy and I went this evening with some friends of ours and then we picked the kids up from my moms house . When we got home I was fluttering around the house doing what moms normally do like hanging clean laundry , cleaning the bathroom counters and etc.. well Mr . Breazy and I ended up bumping in to each other as I was straightening our room up when I just happened to look down at my left hand , actually I was looking at my ring finger where my wedding ring normally sits all pretty and whole . All of the sudden I scream "oh God no" ! Mr. Breazy is like what and I showed him my ring and I told him to please tell me my whole cluster isn't missing . All he said was " calm down and we will look for it okay " . I was freaking out ! We have turned our house upside down and put it back together looking for the cluster but it is no where to be found as of yet .

I can't believe this has happened and I am really hoping that I lost the cluster here at home because if not then somebody is going to be really happy because they will have a 1ct. diamond cluster in their hands . I am so pissed about this . Three years ago we decided that we wanted new wedding bands because both of ours was old and scratched . Two years ago we surprised each other at christmas with a new wedding band and from day one I told Mr. Breazy that my ring was too big . I was afraid I would bump it on something and mess it up or rip my finger off . Now I don't have to worry about it because it is gone . I still have the band that the cluster was attached to but the rest is gone . If I can't find my cluster then I am going to inquire the cost of having another put on the band , if not then I will have a new set . I hate this but in the end I have to just laugh it off or else I would sit down and cry because this ring means alot to me . Anyways, y'all cross your fingers for me that I find my cluster and if you see me out and about send me a smile or two ! :) :)

whew.. we survived it ...

Even though Christmas is my favorite time of year , I have to say that I am glad to see that it is over with this year . It seems as if December just passed right by me while I wasn't looking . I am glad to have this week to get some much needed R&R . I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and enjoyed their time with the family . Anyways , it is almost time to get back to the everyday grind of things . My kids are out of school until January 3 so we still have a bit to go before we are back to normal . I have a couple of free days this week and I think I will walk around all day in my pj's with my hair standing on end . Anyways, today is not one of my free days so I better get busy ! Y'all have a good day !

thank you's and a shitty week ..

Hey all ! I have some time on my hands this morning and I wanted to let you all know that I really appreiciate all of your kind words , thoughts and poems . This has not been my week and believe me I won't be forgetting it anytime soon . Here is how things have went down for my family this week :

Monday : my grandmother passed away , I am sad but at the same time I know she is no longer suffering which does help a bunch .
The starter on my hubbys work van went out and he is in the middle of three huge jobs and is just now finding time to replace the starter .

Tuesday : my son and daughter woke up with this horrid stomach virus that Geektress had over the weekend . My son stayed in bed all day yesterday and just got out of bed around 10:30 this morning . My hubby called around noon and he had the virus . I had to leave my aunts early because I ended up with the virus . Every one in my family was in bed by 6 last night .

Wednesday : we all woke up feeling better today except for being sore all over . We had no water this morning . Thinking that our water had frozen but the water company called and they are fixing a leak and we won't have water for over half the day . My hubby is replacing the starter on his van so everything is coming together . We are just trying to laugh it all off and keep good spirits about it all .

We are almost ready for Christmas and I do agree with Goody , I am ready for this holiday to be over and done . Anyways, I wanted to say thank you to all who has left a comment or sent me an email reguarding my grandmothers death , it really means alot to me to know that I have such wonderful people who do care . Y'all have a good day !

all I want is to catch some z's ...

Hey all ! Sorry I haven't been around this weekend but it has been a busy one . My daughter , Geektress , has been spewing the contents of her stomach since about 4am this morning , my 10 yr old daughter has a slight fever , sore throat and cough and thank God my son seems to be in good health for now . I am so tired that I could sleep out in the yard, without a blanket , if everyone would just leave me alone . I am sooooo glad that the kids are on christmas break for the next two weeks . I am going to sleep , sleep , sleep and then I am going to sleep some more ! hehe . I always forget how hectic this time of year until it is upon us again but I do love this season .

Brian & Lime , the both of you should be recieving a christmas card from me anytime , if you haven't already recieved it . I have recieved both of yours and I want to thank you both again !

I am sure that you all remember me talking about my grandmother back in September . We didn't think she was going to live but she pulled through and has been doing okay until about a week and a half ago and she couldn't breathe so they had to call 911 and have her taken to the hospital . She has pneumonia and she got out of the hospital on friday and they have more or less sent her home to die . The doctors said she would not fully recover from this sickness . I hope all of you understand what I mean when I say this but , for her sake , I wish she would go ahead and pass because then she wouldn't be suffering as she is now . Each breath for her is a struggle and there is nothing any of us can do to help her . If you are a person who prays , please keep her in your prayers and if you are not a person who prays then please keep her in your thoughts . Anyways , I need to get off of here and empty the dryer , since it is buzzing , only to fill it again . Y'all have a good evening and a good start to the week !

There's a new kid in town ..

As most of you know , or those who have paid attention to my posts .. hehe , I have a 13 year old daughter that is a straight A student , plays the fiddle and loves to laugh . I have decided to let her have a blog of her own , under my supervision of course . I made this decision after much thought . Most of that thought was thinking that it works with Brian's daughter so I decided to let her go for it . Please go over and leave her a comment because she thinks that no one will read what she has to say . You can find her here or you can click on "Thought's From A Blonde" in my sidebar . My daughter will be going by the name "Geektress" which was given to her by my bestus friend El Capitan . Thanks all !

YAY! I have time to post ...

After Friday , my schedule will be pretty much open for the next two weeks because the kids will be on Christmas Vacation . Today I have tried to get around to everyones blogs that I haven't been able to read lately or that I have read and didn't have time to comment on . I kinda took today for a "nothing" day and I did ,well , nothing . I did talk on the phone to one of my best friends that moved to another county three years ago and we lost touch . I saw her mother at the grocery store two days before Thanksgiving and she gave me B's home # . So I called her and we talked for three and a half hours today . We plan to get together over the school break .

I need to go back to the doctor because I haven't been feeling well lately and I have tried to ignore it and I think exhaustion is part of my problem . The last time my schedule got real busy and I pretty much didn't take good care of myself was this past summer and boy did I pay dearly for it . I started getting sick at the end of May and I just passed it off as a summer cold at first . Then my ears , throat , sinus's and everything in between started hurting . I would go two days with a low grade fever but still I done nothing about it because , according to myself , I didn't have time to go to the doctor . Finally after almost five weeks of this pain I awoke one morning when I swallowed because it felt like someone had taken rough sand paper up and down my throat . I got out of bed and called the doctor . I went in later that morning for my appointment and I was real surprised at the diagnosis I got . I had the following , strepthroat , sinus infection , allergies , bronchitis , both ears were infected and I was suffering from exhaustion . The doctor put me on 800mg's of Zythromicin , some kind of cough syrup that had Percocet in it and a decongestant . He told me to go to bed and not get up for anything other than a bathroom break for three days . It took about three weeks to get completely better .

I really learned a lesson there because even though being sick was bad , working all of that infection out of me was a bitch and something I don't want to ever repeat . So it is off to the doctor for me because I am almost sure that I have a sinus infection starting and I am positive that both of my ears are infected again . My ears haven't been the same since this summer anyways but now they are hurting and any kind of noise is making them worse .

I hope everyone is getting most of their christmas shopping done and I hope they are doing that safely . Y'all have a good night !

whew ! I am glad that is done ..

Even though it is late by one night , here is the promised report on the Christmas play that I was in .

The play was scheduled for 7:00pm last night but the cast had to be there by 5:30 to run through our lines and songs one more time . Three others and I are the only ones that had to sing a solo , I however was the only one who had to do my solo a capella . I wasn't worried about my lines , those I had down to a tee but I was very nervous over singing a solo and doing it a capella . I was really nervous as the church pews started filling up with folks and then I got more nervous when my brother , his wife , my father-in-law, my step-mother-in-law , my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law walked in . We were not expecting them to come but come they did . It came time to start the show and everyone done so great then came my time to sing What Child Is This . I was really nervous as I sat there with the mic raised to my mouth and then I started singing . I think the only thing that got me through it was a lady that I attend church with was sitting on the second pew in front of where I was on the stage and she started praising God . That gave me courage to go on because if it was moving to her then maybe it wasn't that bad . After wards everyone was so surprised to learn that I could sing and they all told me what a wonderful job I had done . I still wonder if they could hear my heart beating through my voice because if hearts had wings , mine would have surely flown right out of my chest .

During service this morning I had about 13 requests to sing that song again . Some of those requests came from people who had been at the play and the others came from people who had heard from the people at the play that I could sing . I was not as nervous this morning as I sang because I knew everybody there . Anyways , the whole play went better than any of us had planned and I am glad that it is over and I don't have to face that type of nervousness again . I hope everyone has had a good weekend . We are expecting a bit of snow here and I am hoping that we get it plus some ..hehe . I can't help it but I love snow ! Y'all have a good evening and I will talk to you tomorrow !

it can't be saturday already ...

Hey all ! I returned from my little trip to the mountains yesterday afternoon , however I can't say that I was refreshed more like exhausted . We left early thursday morning headed toward the mountains . We couldn't check in to our room until around 4pm so we stopped to have a nice long breakfast then we shopped . I thought my feet were going to fall off . I am not big in the shopping department . Sometimes I like to shop but most times I go in , get what I need or find what I am looking for then I am outta there . Finally we get to check into our room and after we took our luggage in we just sat and chatted for about an hour then we hit the hot tub . The hot tub was outside and it was 50 something degrees out there but the hot tub was set on 104. It was awesome to sit in that hot bubbly water while the cold wind blew around us and cold , cold rain would sprinkle down on us every once in a while . After the hot tub we went back up to take our showers and go have dinner . My head had started hurting earlier in the day and I was trying to just ignore it and pray that it would pass . It didn't pass . We went to Red Lobster and I couldn't eat because my head was hurting so bad that I was feeling real queasy in my stomach and it hurt to open my eyes . I had already taken two sinus headache pills then I took to advils and over dinner my friend says that she thinks a massage might help , so she massages my neck and shoulders in the restaurant . The massage worked wonders , I could feel the headache leaving me . After about an hour my headache was gone . Yesterday morning I had planned on sleeping late but the couple in the room beside us had better ideas . Who wants to play Brian McKnight and Luther Vandrose at 8 in the morning so they can score ? The people beside us did . We finally had to call the front desk and ask them to turn the music down and by that time I was fully awake .

Wow ! It really is saturday isn't it ? Tonight is our Christmas play at church and I am so nervous . I do not look forward to singing in front of all of those people . I know all of my lines and my movements but that singing part has me all in a tizzy ! If you are a person who prays then please pray that I will not mess up while singing . If you are not a person who prays then please cross your fingers and send up good thoughts for me . I will do another post in the next day or two to let you know how the play goes . I hope all of you have a wonderful day ! :)

are we there yet ?

As soon as I drop the kids at school tomorrow morning I will be picking two other ladies up and we are headed to the mountains for a one night womens retreat . I can't wait ! I am soooooo ready to go , especially after the last two weeks that I have had .

Today was one of those "I should have stayed in bed days" . I got up , showered , made breakfast and took the kids to school and all through this I was in a very good mood . My son's second grade class was scheduled to sing some christmas carols at 9:30am at McGee Tyson Airport so around 8:50 I jump in the Venture to head that way . I get two miles from home and all of the sudden every thing in the van goes crazy . The next thing I know my van has died and will not start again . I was lucky that I was close to a subdivision so that I could coast in to the entrance and call my hubby. The problem was some wires rubbing something-or-other and they burnt in two. Anyways , my hubby took me back home so I could get the car and then I headed out to the airport to watch my son sing . After this the day just got worse and I am not even going to talk about what all happened for fear of getting mad and down all over again . Let's just say that I hope I don't have any repeats of today for a while .

Y'all have fun and have a Happy HNT while I am gone , I can't wait to look at all the HNT pics when I get back ! Be safe , stay warm and I luv y'all ! :)

busy , busy , busy .....

Good Tuesday to ya ! I can't wait til sunday evening . When it gets here I am going to arrange myself on the couch in the slouchiest , laziest position possible . I will be wearing the most comfortable pajamas that I can find , no make up and I want my hair to stand in all directions as if a brush hasn't touched it in days . Wow that is gonna be awesome ! I have been so busy and you know how tired and exhausted you feel on friday after a long , hard work week , well that is how I am feeling on this cold tuesday morning .

Thursday after I drop the kids at school I have to pick up my cousin and another a close friend and we are headed for Pigeon Forge for a one night womens retreat . Hot tub here I come ! We had talked about doing some shopping but the heck with that , I am finding the hot tub , stripping down to my skin and I am not leaving the warmth until my skin has shriveled so much that I look like a raisin ! The funny thing about this retreat is that we already have a snow advisory for thursday on us now . Pigeon Forge is in the mountains so we might get snowed in . YAY! I wouldn't mind at all if we did . That would just mean a few more hours rest for my tired body .

I haven't had a week like this one in quiet sometime . I don't even have time to fit a fart in between appointments , preparing for the upcoming christmas play and all the other lovely tasks I have going . Anyways , I better get out of here , I have to pick my cousin up in a few minutes and take him to the airport because he has to go back to Iraq today . Y'all have a good day and be safe !!!

my weekend was .....

Wow what a weekend I have had ! You know , it is amazing at the joy a child , or in this case children , can bring to your heart .

I have had a weekend full of family , friends and fellowship . Friday night we fired up the grill and invited my bro-in-law , sis-in-law , their two boys , my hubby's dad and stepmom over for dinner . You see , my hubby's brother just got out of the Marine Corps and moved back to East Tennessee . They got back early Thursday morning and we have been so busy that we haven't had time to visit with them so we dropped everything friday night and enjoyed some time with them .

On Saturday morning we met others members at our church at 10am, boarded the church bus and headed for Greenville , South Carolina to deliver Christmas gifts to a childrens home that our church sponsors . My hubby nor I had ever been to a childrens home before and it was a completely different experience than I thought it would be . I have always thought that the kids in these homes were always sad because they had no parents or their parents mistreated or whatever reason had put them there . When we got there the directors of the home brought the kids in the kitchen to meet us because we bought pizza for them . At first I didn't go through the tables meeting and talking with the kids because I was afraid I would wrap my arms around the first one I came to and I wouldn't let go or that I would burst into tears and make a child feel bad or make an fool of myself . There were 37 kids in all , both boys and girls , ranging from ages 4 to 18 . Alot of them were siblings . We got to tour the whole home from top to bottom . It is like dorm rooms and they were really nice . The directors that are over the home now are remolding or have remodeled alot already . I was surprised at how nice it was because it was nothing like I had visualized in my mind .

After the tour we went to the family room to talk and play with the kids . I found out that most of the kids there actually had parents in the area that couldn't take care of them financialy or their grandparents couldn't take care of them for health reasons. A few of them had been left on the doorstep of the home never to know their biological parents . Some of them spend the summer with their parents because there is more work to be found in the summer therefore more money .

I started going over and chatting with some of the kids and it didn't take me long to realize that these kids were not sad at all , they were happy to be there at the home . They even called the directors mama and daddy . Some of them liked to touch your arm while they were talking or they would rub their hand on your back while you were chatting with them just for the contact , however this was more so with the younger ones . There was one little boy who was 7 , his name was Timothy and he and I made friends fast . He had beautiful , shiny hazel eyes and a beautiful smile . Timothy liked to hold your hand and hug you when he talked to you . The one thought that kept going through my mind was thank God there is a place like this for children who are discarded as if they were garbage or their parents couldn't provide for them . It was an experience that I will never forget , nor will I forget any of their faces .

I left that home counting my blessings starting off with the fact that we are financially and mentally stable enough to care for our three children . If you ever need a humbling experience go to the local childrens home in your area and spend a couple of hours with them , I bet you a hundred bucks that when you leave you will already be thinking about the next time you can visit again . From now on I will be going on the trips with the church when they go visiting the childrens homes that we sponsor because it was a huge blessing to me . I honestly tried to prepare myself for that trip because I figured that I would come home and be depressed for the next few days, instead I walked away with a little bounce in my steps and my heart tons lighter .

We are only five days away from our Christmas play at church and each day I get more nervous . I am playing Mary in the play and I have to sing a solo "What Child Is This " . I haven't sang solo in church in 18 years . The director of our play and her assistant doesn't want me to sing in church other than in the choir until after the play because no one but the cast of the play has heard me sing and they want to surprise all of our members . I told them tonight at practice that they sure knew how to put some pressure on a girl ! I can see myself off key or forgetting my words . Did I mention that I am singing this a capella ? Yeah , now you know what I mean by pressure and nervousness .

This week is going to be a really busy week for me so I want you all to know that I am not ignoring you by not reading your blogs , I am just going to be really busy especially since we are on crunch time with the play . Anyways , I will read and comment when I have the time this week and I will try to post as much as possible . Y'all have a wonderful week and remember what I said about visiting the local childrens home in your area , you will get a blessing if you do !

my little moment of excitement to share ..

Some of you know that my husband bought me a banjo a few weeks ago . The banjo is very new and odd to me since I have only played the piano , clarinet and flute but I have always been fascinated with the banjo and I am very determined to learn it . I have been told that I better think about my decision to play one since they are one of the hardest instruments to learn . I will be starting lessons after Christmas and New Years is over but in the meantime my daughters friend plays the banjo and he is really good at it for a 13 year old . He has came over a couple of times to show me some small things to get started with such as, familiarizing myself with the rolls with my right hand , those are actually hard to get used to but I practiced and practiced and viola , I got them down .

Now for my moment of excitement , we will call the banjo playing friend "D" . D came home with my daughter from school yesterday and he taught me how to play Cripple Creek . OMG !!! I am so excited ! I actually learned a song already ! I can't believe it . I am not up to the normal speed yet but I do have the notes and rolls down . It is amazing to me that I learned it that quick . I don't think this banjo playing is going to be as hard as I first thought , or maybe that is just my determination shining through and I refuse to let it be as hard as I originally thought , either way I am estatic right now ! Anyways , that is my little moment of excitement , I know it might not be much to anybody else but it is alot to me and I thought I would share it with all of you ! Happy Hump Day ! :)

Btw... the pic of that banjo is more fancy than the one my hubby bought me !

The perfect Christmas tree

Do you worry over whether your Christmas tree is perfectly decorated ? Always looking at it and changing the ornaments ? Believe it or not , I am not that way . Yes I know I that I obsess over everything else but when it comes to our Christmas tree , I am different . Let me try and give you a visual of our tree . We have an artificial douglas fir , 7 ft tall and just huge . I use multicolored lights , always , I like the white lights but not in my house . As far as ornaments go we have multicolored , foil wrapped , miniature gifts , lots of things the kids have made over the years , I use the plastic balls that look like glass , if you knock them off they don't break . I have small red bows , ornaments with the kids pictures on them , and for the top I have an angel and a multicolored star . This year my son wanted to put on the multicolored star because he has really been interested in the star of Bethlehem .

I have all kinds of knick knacks to sit around on shelves and such , a snowman that is holding a sign that says " Days til Christmas" , his numbers are like dice with the numbers written on them . I have a small blue sled that hangs on the door knob . I never put garland on my tree , instead we decorate the windows and door ways with it . Normally we put up blue ice cycle lights out side but this year I don't think we will do that .

All of these things make up the perfect Christmas decor for me and mine . I know some people who have nothing but glass ornaments and every thing has to be precisely in place or they start freaking out . I like to let my kids decorate the tree with me so when we are done I can stand back and look at the tree through their eyes , if that makes sense . I love the mood everyone gets in while we are drinking hot chocolate and decorating the house . I told Mr. Breazy last night that I thought our tree looked better than any of them ever had .

So , that is the perfect tree to me , what is your idea of the perfect tree ?

The holidays..

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving ! We had 23 guests and everything ran smooth and normal. Almost all of the food was consumed which is a good thing for me because I didn't have alot to put away in the fridge . After everyone left my house was still in one piece and unbelievably , still clean and that is a first . The weather turned out sunny and not warm but not cold either .

I didn't go shopping on Friday either . I usually don't because of the crowds around here . They hit the places about 5 am and it stays packed until noon or longer and you usually can't get what you are going for anyways. For some odd reason this year everyone that advertised those great "the day after Thanksgivings sales" didn't stock up much on their advertised products . For instance , Wal-Mart was supposed to have their Gameboy SP on sale for $48.88 which is regularly $79.98 but they only stocked three of them for the hordes of shoppers yesterday and my friend told me one woman bought all of them . The mall here was so packed all day long yesterday that you couldn't fit a fart between the cars in the parking lot so we decided to do our shopping later on since I already have a few things. We normally get all of our shopping done in two trips . Mr. Breazy and I will find a baby sitter , leave around noon and head out for shopping . We will come home around ten that night with the majority of our shopping done .

My style of shopping is a bit different than most . I go with a few things in mind and I don't browse alot because I don't like walking aimlessly around a department store . I get what I am going for and leave . hehe Anyways, I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are ready for the Christmas season !

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I would like to wish each and every one of you a Happy Thanksgiving ! All of you mean alot to me and are a big part of my daily life . I am always anxious to read new posts to find out how your day is going , what jokes you have found ,the next chapter of your book , a new poem you have posted , the newest interactive story . You all mean so much to me . Some of you I am just getting to know and others have already found a place in my heart . I don't think blogging would be so addictive if I didn't have so many wonderful blogs to read ! I feel so honored to have such wonderful friends around me here in blogland . I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! Be safe and eat plenty !

Breazy :)
