a little time...

Hey y'all ! I have tried to get around to comment on everyones blog today since I haven't been able to make my usual rounds in the past couple weeks. It is amazing at how much I miss being able to log on and visit your sites since I am working now. There is actually a lot I miss since I started working but I wouldn't go back to working at home any time soon, I love my job too much to do that.

Monday I had to go over to Employee Health to answer some normal "new hire" questions and to get my second TB skin test. I knew when I went over there that I would be getting another shot, either the Tetanus or Hepatitis B shot as well. Like any normal human on this earth, I too hate shots but they are better than getting sick. I had to have a second TB test because anyone who is a new hire and can't show proof of a negative TB test within the last twelve months, you have a second one even though your first was negative. I haven't had a Tetanus in twenty years. My last one was when I was twelve years old and I had that one because I was wearing those shoes that everyone called "jellies" and I stepped on a rusty nail, well twenty years ago was a long time and I try not to remember shots so I didn't remember that a Tetanus is pretty painful afterwards. Here is kind of how my conversation with the nurse went Monday regarding the Tetanus....
Nurse..do you remember that this shot is painful?
Me..it has been twenty years since I had one. Is it painful while getting it or afterwards?
Nurse..afterwards, your muscles will be sore and they will spasm and it is very uncomfortable, here is two Tylenol for you to take right now and that will help a bit. There are other side effects that could occur but we don't see them as often and they are nothing harmful or serious.
Me..okay.

So I get the shot, the stick of the needle didn't hurt nor did the liquid going into my arm but an hour later I felt like someone had nailed a sixteen penny nail in that spot. I had the shot at about 8:10 that morning and by noon I wasn't feeling so well. I felt draggy and basically like I had no strength left in my body but I kept moving and going. By the time I got off work at 4:30 that day my arm was even more sore and kind of numb feeling and my body was feeling battered. I went home took some Advil, went to church for revival, came home and went straight to bed.

On Tuesday I knew immediately when I woke up at 4:30am to get ready for work that it was not going to be a good day. I felt like I had been ran over by a big Mac truck and my arm felt like a useless piece attached to my body. On the way to work I couldn't believe how bad I felt but I just kept going. Once at work after a couple hours had passed my co-worker D asks me if I am alright. I told her I just wasn't feeling well but I would be alright. After that D kept asking me if I was okay about every half hour and I replied the same every time. Finally around 1:20pm D asks if I am sure I am alright and I told her that I wasn't feeling well at all and I felt like I was getting the flu. D then told me that I looked awful and that my coloring was getting paler and paler, she then said that we needed to call our boss and see if I could go home. While we were waiting for our boss to call one of D's friends that works in a different department in the hospital called and D was telling her about me not feeling well. The friend then asks if I had had a Tetanus shot in the last day or so. Come to find out one of the side effects of the Tetanus is flu like symptoms. My boss told me to go home and get some rest. Once home I went to bed and I was probably asleep before my head hit the pillow. I was off today so I had some time to relax but it seems that not all of my problem was just the side effects from the shot, my allergies are on full force blow out right now so I feel as if I have been beaten about my head. Next Tuesday I have to back to E.H. and get the first installment of Hepatitis B shots that I volunteered for, I just hope that it goes smoother than this one, I am glad that a Tetanus shot is good for ten years!

While I was scrolling through all of your blogs tonight I ran across one that was so sweet. TC was giving out awards and myself along with some others received the Inspirational Blogger Award. Thank you TC for your kind words about me, they really touched my heart!

Well it is getting late and I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning so I need to get to sleep. Y'all have a good day and a HHNT! I miss y'all !

what a week!!

I am wiped out and there is no other way to say it. Before I get any farther with this post I want to thank Shari for awarding me with the "Rockin' Girl Blogger" award. This is what she said about me "she's a breath of fresh air and so likeable. She talks to you like you are one of her friends". Isn't that sweet! Thank you so much Shari for awarding me with the Rockin' Girl Blogger Award.

I want to apologize to all of you for not making over to read your blogs this week but basically this week has been a week not worth repeating. As you know I started my job with orientation on Monday, a class on Tuesday then yesterday (Wed.) I went in for a regular day. I love my job, I love the people I work with but the hours are going to take some time to get use to. Every one in the hospital that I have came in contact with are extremely nice, they treat you as if you they have known you for years and it is like one huge family over there. We have this huge office that is filled with rows of files, everything is kept in a certain order and very organized. The view over the river is breath taking especially first thing in the morning. My days are starting at 4:30am when I get up and they end around 6:20-6:30pm when I get home. It takes me about forty five minutes to drive there because I hit several areas along the way that are congested or have low speed limits for various reasons. Then it takes about eight to ten minutes to walk from where I park to the office I work in. Even though I have only been in the office for two full days, I pretty much have the two computer systems down pat. I haven't been afraid to sit and play with the comp. systems so I have learned fast.

Have you ever really got to look at X-Ray films at all? They are cool! Part of my job description is to load the film on to the reader so that the dr.s can come in and read them, Yesterday I was unloading the hanger and I was really examining each one because there is a certain way they have to be loaded and there is a certain way they have to be taken down and put in the file. Ms. B was showing me the ropes on this procedure and we had saw one of a woman that had sometime in the past had a mastectomy on her left breast and she had had an implant put in, that looked like a jelly fish on the film. Another woman had not removed her earrings or necklace and these pieces of jewelry looked like they were suspended in the air several inches above the bones, pretty neat actually anyways, this one I was looking at was of a male and I could see his necklace but there was something down around his pelvic area. Ms. B said all of the sudden, I wonder why this dude is carrying a yo yo in his pocket? I laughed til I nearly cried when I realized that she was very serious, upon closer inspection I saw that the object in his pocket was indeed a yo yo. Until yesterday I never knew how pretty bones can be.

Speaking of breast, on October 20 my two daughters and I are volunteering to work a stand at the Race for Cure. The department I work in volunteers for all kinds of things every year and my daughters and I are excited to be doing this.

Sometime this weekend I will get by to read your blogs and again I apologize for not being there already but my time is very limited. Last night I got home at 6:20 pm, I walked in the house and went straight to my room to change for church. As soon as we got home from church I put my pj's on, washed my face, brushed my teeth and then went to bed.

Have a beautiful day!

Orientation and my new job....

Hey all! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Yesterday I started my new job, actually I started my one and a half day of orientation. It was a long day and I have never had so much information pumped into my brain in seven hours before but it turned out to be a good day. Every one that was in orientation seemed to mix pretty good, of course we had people that were going every where, some of them will be working in our other facilities in other counties. Even though we were given a lot of info yesterday, unbelievably, the most of it stuck with me. I understood and remember the majority of everything they said. I have already chosen the plan for health insurance that I am going with along with the dental and vision however, I can't officially enroll for the insurance until this coming Friday when HR gets all of our info logged into the computer. With the plan that I chose, our insurance will be effective as of September 1, 2007 and this blew my mind because most places you have to wait 90 days before receiving benefits.

Today I had to go in at 8:30 for a class that was only three hours long then we broke for lunch and after lunch we were supposed to report to our department. When I got to my department they told me that my manager was out of town and would be back tomorrow so they showed me some of the things I will be doing then I came home. I really, really, really like the three ladies that I will be working with. One of my co-workers told me today that we were one of the busiest offices in the offices with the E.R. being first. Busy means no idle time and the day will go by faster so that is a positive for me.

I will be working four days a week, ten hours most days. For the first seven weeks I will work Tuesday thru Friday then after that I will work Monday thru Thursday the next seven weeks. The reason my schedule will be rotating between Mondays and Fridays off every seven weeks is because we have a college student that works in our office and that is how her schedule works so she and I will be switching up every seven weeks.

Anyways, tomorrow I will report straight to my department and I will probably get off early because next week is looking like a 50hr week because I have to fill in for one of the ladies that works there now, she has a doctors appointment Monday.

Well, I am going to get off here and get a couple small loads of laundry done so that I don't have to worry about them later. Y'all have a wonderful day, be safe and take care!

I love Friday's...

Friday has always been one of my favorite days of the week because it is just a good day. Most people are in a good mood on Friday because they know they don't have to get up early and report to work or whatever. For me Friday means it is time to stand back, let out a huge relieving sigh that says "got this one down and I have two days to get ready for the next one". This coming week is a big one for me as I have been saying. I start my new job on Monday and I am very excited to get this chapter in my life started and get settled in to it. I have been told by some of the other hospital workers that Monday will be the most boring day because I will be in orientation, they say Tuesday will be better because instead of just orientation I have a four hour class to attend, either way I am ready. After class on Tuesday I report to my department and get going with my training.

I never watch that much tv but I think that I have watched more tv this week than I have in the past two years. I decided that since I am going back out into the work force next week that I would take this week to chill at home, that is right, my schedule has been cleared of everything and let me tell you it has felt weird, in a good way of course. I will say that I am glad I don't have many weeks like this because I am not one to and do nothing for day after day.

Anyways, let me get back on subject here about my tv watching....

I have always been different than other people in a way because I have this thing with the weather. I like to know at all times what is being predicted for that day and the days to come, why I didn't become a meteorologist is beyond me. Also anytime that something like the Utah mine collapse happens I always keep up with that and last night was no different. I have been watching the updates since the collapse was first made known. Now I don't sit in front of the tv watching all day long for what is going on, instead I carry on with my day and periodically flip the channel over to find out if there are any updates. Last night my daughter was flipping through the channels when she yelled for me to come and to hurry. Yesterday evening the rescue workers experienced a seismic bump or bounce as they call it. The bump caused the walls to blow out in the area the rescuers were working in. It took about an hour before reporters could tell if all of the ambulances and the life flight helicopters were for rescuers or if perhaps the six trapped miners may have been found. From the reports coming in, the mountain where Crandall Canyon Mine is located was moving and shifting all day long yesterday which caused quiet of few bumps and one of those bumps caused the walls to shoot coal in every direction and creating a collapse in a much smaller magnitude than the one that trapped the original six miners. In this collapse nine miners were injured and taken to a hospital, three of those injured rescuers died. I feel for the remaining rescuers, families, friends, all the authorities up there because everyday they have faced new problems and they just keep on going at it and continue to do so until all six of the trapped miners have been rescued dead or alive. Those miners have been trapped for twelve days now and some are beginning to lose hope but I do know that a rescue at this point doesn't mean they are all dead, it doesn't mean that they are alive either but the possibility of them being alive is still there. In Tasmania , May 2006, two trapped miners were rescued after being trapped for fourteen days. January 1983 in northeast China, two miners were rescued after twenty three days trapped in a mine. I know that it all depends on conditions and all that but I am hoping that they can rescue these guys without anymore complications or tragedies and that all six of the miners are alive, I am sure everyone else feels the same way.

Starting Monday I will be posting at night because I will be getting up at 4:30AM each morning and the computer is going to be the last thing I think of. With that being said, y'all have a good day, be safe, take care and God Bless You!

hump day...

Is it just me or are our weeks going by fast? It is funny because when you want a week to go by fast it creeps and creeps until it feels like you have spent half of eternity in that week alone. Either way I am not going to complain this week because I have cleared my schedule so that I can be at home all week since I start work next week. I haven't really known this week what to do because every thing is clean except for the usually one or two loads of laundry that I do daily and that doesn't take long so I have had time on my hands and it is a very weird thing for me. I tried to take a nap yesterday morning but that didn't work out so I just rested on the couch and watched some tv. That felt real good since I am not feeling the greatest, thanks to allergies and whatnot.

I have mentioned before about my habit of reading church signs as I drive by, well there is a church right beside my daughters high school and I really like their sign this week. It says "peace is not the absence of conflict, peace is the presence of God", for me that is very true. I have found that peace and it makes life a lot easier to deal with, yes I still have problems and conflicts but they don't weigh on me as they use to. Last week our church sign read "PRAY is a four letter word that you can use anywhere except in school" needless to say I really liked that one and I will tell you something else, we have taught our kids to pray and they have witnessed how prayer has worked in our lives. My kids pray over their food before eating it, and through out the day if they feel the need. No one will ever not allow my kids to pray because my kids can say a quick prayer while sitting at their desk and no one around would even know it. If the school has a problem with my kids praying then we are going to have an even bigger problem when Mr. B and I get there. I think if kids keep it to themselves and don't try to convert everyone or make everyone else pray then they should be able to pray quietly in school. We have been lucky thus far and have got teachers that believe in prayer, no that doesn't mean that the teachers make all students pray but the ones that do believe in prayer can pray without bothering anyone. Like I said, my kids have saw how prayer has worked in our lives so nothing will keep them from praying if they feel so inclined to do so. My kids are not going to stop praying just because some hell-bound atheist doesn't want to be in the presence of someone praying. Okay, enough about that before I get good and wound up! The last thing I will say is that Mr. B done our church sign this week and I like it to however I will not elaborate on it, the sign says "One nation under God....What's happened"?

We are looking at another 100 degree day here, nothing new really. I got up this morning and went out to smoke on the porch, it was like 67 out there and I thought I was going to freeze to death..lol. Some schools in the surrounding counties here have been having to shut down half a day because their air conditioning systems not working properly due to heat, all I can say is that I am ready for fall and the beautiful colors it brings, the cooler temps will be a welcome addition as well.

Speaking of smoking, I had posted about quitting before we moved to my parents house in February. Both of my parents and my sister smoke plus we were building a house at that time so I didn't think that was a great time to try but now it is weighing very heavy on me so starting Monday I will be taking steps to lay them down for good. I wanted to wait until a time that I knew I wouldn't be setting myself up for failure and I think that time is now. First off I have been under conviction about my smoking for a couple of months, second off there is a new smoking ban that will be taking effect in Tennessee on October 1, the ban states that there can be no smoking in enclosed public places. The ban is actually called Non-Smoker Protection Act and it was created for the workplace. You can go here to read more about it if you want. Anyways, since I will be working at the hospital and I won't be able to smoke, actually I won't have time to smoke, I am going to quit and hopefully do so on my own, I have already talked to my doctor about my options if I can't do it on my own and we have decided that if I need a bit of help he will prescribe Chantix. Chantix has very successful results so far, I am hoping that I don't need it but I can't say that I won't. With that being said, those of you who pray I would appreciate at it if you could say a small prayer for me next week and those of you who don't pray then please cross your fingers for me or send me some good positive non-smoking vibes! LOL!

Y'all have a beautiful day and don't get to hot out there!

xoxo

this, that, and some more Tuesday...

My kids were in a really good mood this morning, when I squealed the tires on my mini-van pulling out onto the main road they loved it and that just pumped their mood up more. It is really hard to see if cars are coming from the left when pulling out onto the main road here because it is a big curve and this morning I was half-way out when here comes a little nissan flying , I was already half in the road so instead of stopping I hit the accelerator which caused my back tires to spin in the gravel then catch on the pavement and leave black marks. All three of my kids were like " that is so cool mom, I didn't know you could burn rubber in a mini-van" , so hopefully after this morning they will quit giving me a hard time about the mini-van.

I got a surprising phone call yesterday from my 18yr old cousin. He is in the Marines and he is currently stationed in Hawaii, it was so good to talk to him. He said they were buckling down and getting ready for Hurricane Flossie but I was a bit concerned when I got up this morning and heard on the news that there was an earthquake over there during the night however, no one was hurt. The meteorologists say that Hawaii will not take a direct hit from Flossie, instead the Hurricane should move by just south of the big island and that is good news even though I know that they will still have to deal with the winds and rains from the hurricane. Hawaii has been in a very bad drought state so the rain is much needed and that is what concerns me. Either way I know that my cousin will be taken care of.

Girl Scouts has started up again and they are going full force. My daughter had a meeting last night and they are having a parents meeting tonight and I can't attend because I have to go sing with my church choir at another church. Ms. D, the troop leader, told me that there is a lot of paper work and she will just send it home for me to read over.

I don't know about anyone else but this heat is reeking havoc on my allergies and sinuses. For the past two days my stomach has been upset from the drainage and after I wake up, even with allergy meds, it takes me about four or five hours to get "cleared" up which isn't much better.

The trapped miners in Utah has been weighing heavy on my mind for the past week. It must take a different kind of person to be able to work those mines knowing that they could collapse. I couldn't do it because I do not like small, dark, closed in places, I get a little panicky just watching the coverage of the men working to remove the rubble on tv. It is pitiful but I am more than just a bit claustrophobic. I pray that this third hole they are digging will reveal more about those six men and I pray for them and their families and those that are trying to rescue them.

Starting this coming Monday, the 20th, I will be posting at night instead of morning. I will be getting up at 4:30AM to get ready for work because it takes me almost an hour drive from here to there. The reason it takes so long to drive is because the route I take has a school zone and several congested areas where the speed limit is 20-30 MPH, however this route is much quicker than if I were to hit the highway then exit off on the Cumberland Strip that runs right through the University of Tennessee campus then I would turn right onto a huge bridge called the Henley Street Bridge. The pic above is actually the Henley St. Bridge and the hospital I will be working at is to the left immediately after crossing the bridge however the employee parking lot is on the right after crossing the bridge. I especially don't think I could cross it after the bridge collapse in Minneapolis.

Well I think I will sign off for now and get things done around here. Y'all have a beautiful day, be safe and take care!

finally...I have some time

It has been a day let me tell you! I started my day by going for my physical and drug test for my new job. I, not that I was doubting it, passed my physical with flying colors. The drug test doesn't worry me either because I don't do drugs, however the drawing my blood part I have never liked, does anyone? The lab tech that took my blood was good and knew what she was about, of course I have very good veins so that helps, but for some reason when she stuck the needle in my arm I almost came off the chair. I have never had the bad sting that I had today when my blood has been drawn in the past, the lab tech said maybe it was just the way she went in with the needle. I also had to have a TB test done, I had forgot how the bubble forms under you skin when they inject you. Anyway, I made it through all that just fine and now all I have to do is wait for the 20th to get here so that I can attend orientation then a class on the 21st then I be on my regular schedule.

I went to my Papaw's house today to see what all my parents have done down there. They are remodeling it because they are going to rent it out, they have two other properties they rent out and they didn't want that house to just sit there. Everything is looking so good, Mamaw and Papaw would love the new changes if they could see them. My parents still have some of the things they inherited in the front living room or as the family has always called it "the front room", the room was added on to the house sometime before I was born. Anyways, my mom and I were down there going through some things and it all brought back so many memories. My Mamaw never received a gift that she didn't write on a piece of paper who gave the gift and the date it was given. My mom ran across this pretty pink glass bowl that she and my dad had bought Mamaw years ago and since pink is my favorite color and I like dainty and delicate pieces my mom gave the bowl to me, one day I will take a picture of it and post it. My mom also gave me Mamaw's quilt rack. It is a rack that you display quilts on (just in case you didn't know) and I have several quilts that my mom has made me that I need to display, they are way to pretty to be in a linen closet with the rest of the blankets and linens.

It seems I have been walking down memory lane a lot lately, I don't know if it is because the one year anniversary of my aunts death is getting closer or what but I can't seem to get all of these memories out of my head and everything around me brings back memory after memory. Sometimes I wish I could just close my eyes and go back to a time in my past of my choosing for ten minutes. Sunday morning my oldest daughter and I sang at church and that brought back a memory of me sitting at Mamaw's feet in the floor while she sang gospel songs to me and taught me how to sing them, I believe that it is Mamaw that I need to thank for my love of music and singing.

When the kids get out of school tomorrow they will have completed their first week of school. They are all happy with their teachers and schedules and that makes me happy. Last year my oldest daughter wasn't happy with her algebra teacher. She came home with almost 200 problems for homework each night for that class. I thought maybe my daughter didn't like the teacher because she was a bit more strict than most teachers but I have found out that it isn't just my daughter, you can ask some of this teachers previous students if they know her and her name alone still puts a look of fear in their eyes and I am talking people that went to school with me.

We only have one event planned for the weekend which is a Princess birthday party for a very special five year old friend of ours on Saturday, other than that the only thing I have planned is to go back over to the lab at the hospital and get my TB test read. The remainder of the weekend I am going to laze around on the couch while watching tv, well except for Sunday and we will go to church.

I am going to be making my rounds to all of your blogs tomorrow morning sometime. I feel really guilty because I haven't had time to get around so I do apologize for that but you will be seeing me soon!

I am going to go and get some sleep, I have a lot to get done while the kids are at school tomorrow, which is why I am post on a Thursday night instead of in the morning. Y'all have a wonderful day and stay inside as much as possible especially to those who are experiencing the same high temps that we are. Good night!

pop in and popping back out

Hey all ! I wanted to sign in real quick to let you know that I was offered the position I interviewed for and I accepted it. I start work on August 20. I will be working Mon-Thurs 7AM-5:30PM and I am very excited, the view of the river from this office makes it all worth while and that isn't including the two wonderfully nice women I will be working with, this is something that I am so ready to do because I feel like I am slowly finding my place in the world.

The kids started back to school yesterday morning, my son was so nervous he threw up in the parking lot...(sad face). I took him on in and made him clean his mouth and face then I took him to his room. I told his teacher of his little accident and she, thank goodness, had some peppermints which calm upset or nervous stomachs. The good thing was that my son didn't even get so much as a spatter on him so he was okay. He loved his new teacher and his best friend is in his class this year so that made him happy. Both of my girls were very happy with their schedules and classes, they both signed up for volley ball. My middle child will be playing at the middle school if she makes it and my oldest one will be managing the high school team so I am proud of them for that. I was surprised that B, my middle child, signed up for try-outs because even though she is atheletic she is shy and that has kept her from sports.

Things are real busy here especially since I am trying to get everything in order so that we don't have chaos when I start work. I am at our local library right now because I am having a problem with my cable modem, the problem should be corrected by the end of this week, or I hope it is anyway.

Y'all have a wonderful week and I hope to be back up and running at home in the next few days! I will do my best to get around to all of your blogs as soon as I am available to.

xoxo,
Breazy

I've got to quit this!

It seems these days that the time between my posts keeps getting longer and longer. I need to take fifteen minutes each night to post even if it is just something silly. I also need to take a few extra minutes to read or at least come comment on all of the blogs in my blog roll. When I don't have time to read and comment the blogs on my blog roll I feel guilty about it, do any of you ever feel that way? Kind of like you are neglecting your friends. The bad thing is that I can't promise at this point to do better. By the time I have free time at night I am too tired to sit down and get on the computer. I will try to do better.

About the job interview that I had last Monday, I was the one they wanted until someone else showed up wanting the job and they were kind of hard pressed not to give it to her considering her mother has major "pull" around there. No big deal because the lady that interviewed me knew of another position that was open so she put me in touch with the supervisor over that department, I had an interview Friday and I should hear today or tomorrow whether I have the job, my chances are very good at this point. The new position I was interviewed for is still in the medical imaging department, the new position is a full time position instead of a part time but that is okay to. Now the ball is rolling I am not going to stop it because I am ready to work outside of our home again. I think working here and just being here a lot is part of the reason for my "cleaning" problem, I see it all the time so the house never looks clean to me even after I have just cleaned it, ladies you know what I am talking about.

The office I will be working in, if I get the position that is, has a beautiful view of the Tennessee River. The good thing about the office is that it is on the first floor and that is good because I am afraid of heights and often times I can't look out of windows when I am above four floors or I start freaking out. I am really excited about it and ready to start if I am hired.

There is no denying that August is finally here. Our temps have went up along with the humidity. You can't walk outside without getting all sweaty and feeling sticky and gross, thank God for air conditioning! This is the time of year that I refuse to wear foundation on my face because it just melts off, rather I sweat it off but you get my point. I am not a bad sweater either but during August it seems that is all I do. I will admit that I am ready for the crisp cool air and beautiful multi colored leaves that fall will bring.

One thing I should have done Friday was sign in and post some special wishes to a special girl in my life. My middle child, Bethany, turned 12 Friday. She finally received the IPOD she has been asking for since Christmas, if you were around her you would think that we presented her with a bar of gold instead of an IPOD. So with all of that being said I would like to say....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOD BLESS YOU BETHANY,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!
I LOVE YOU!

Y'all have a wonderful Monday, be safe and take care!

Long time blah blah...

It has certainly been a while since I've been here. Sometimes I think about deleting this blog and being done but I also think I am goin...
