This is the 6 day forecast for East Tennessee . You never really know what you are going to wake up to around here . One day it will be hot and the next it is cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey . For instance the last few days have been in the upper 60's to lower 70's for a high and in the 50's for lows . Today is supposed to be partly cloudy with a 30% chance of rain . We have a cold front moving through and they are expecting some severe storms to start here tonight and stick around until tomorrow night . No wonder everybody is walking around all stuffed up and their allergies bothering them . Our bodies can't adjust to all the changes in the weather because they happen so quickly . And yes I am just rambling if you were wondering . I am staying close to home today for two reasons . One being that my son went back to school after having the stomach flu yesterday and two because my papaw is having surgery today . They are amputating his right leg from the knee down .
The doctors have been trying to do this surgery since last monday (11-7-05) but couldn't because of the fluid in or around my papaws lungs . The reason they are amputating is because he had a sore to come up on his foot that , even with special home care, has got worse and worse . They discovered during a regular doctors visit a couple of weeks ago that the affected area had gangrene in it . I might need to mention that my papaw is a severe diabetic and therefore it is hard for any type of injury etc.. to heal . There is a very slim chance that he will survive the surgery because not even 50% of his heart is working properly .
They are supposed to take him into surgery at 10am this morning and I can't go over there because I am afraid that I will pass the stomach flu to him and I don't want to make things worse for him . Mr. Breazy and I did go visit him on saturday . We stayed and chatted with him for quiet some time and it was really hard to leave because I knew that it could be the last time that I might see him alive . Anyways , I am at home trying to keep myself busy so that I don't worry myself silly . So far that is the extent of my day and I am hoping to recieve a phone call with good news on my papaw later .
