I can't remember if I talked about this or not but a couple of months ago my 10 yr old had been reaching for something on my desk and accidentally bumped the eject button on the cd/dvd tray . When the tray opened she panicked and closed it with her hand . I didn't find this out until the next day . My husband was home with the kids when this incident took place (go figure) . Over the past two months I have talked to people and messed around with it trying to see if I could figure out the problem . Sometimes I will be on the computer and you can hear the drive start , the green light comes on and that is it , keep in mind there is no cd in it when it does this . Today I finally bought a printer , copier , scanner and when I got home I realized that I couldn't install it because of the tray being messed up so I finally took the time to call Gateway .
The Gateway rep was awesome and she walked me through step by step how to take the bay apart and check the hook ups to the drive . While talking to her my cordless phone went dead because evidentally my daughter has been on the phone all day . I get our regular phone get it hooked up and call back . I was lucky the second time as well because I talked to another great rep. Finally after taking the bay apart four times we discovered that the drive itself is bad so they have ordered the parts , called a repairman and by the end of this week I should be good to go . Don't you love reliable warranties ? I am really enjoying the fact that this service is costing me nothing due to my warranty . I have had this computer for only three months and I never dreamed that I would have to use the warranty because I am really strict about my new computer , I mean there are two other comps in the house , ya know ! Anyways , that is how my weekend is going , how is your weekend going ?

Yep I did get lucky . That is one reason why I haven't called before now . I am just glad that they are going to fix it without a fuss over the warranty. My old comp is a compaq presario and if you call those people it is horrible .
