busy again ...

It is that time of year again when science projects are being prepared for school . Both of my daughters have a science project due this week and surprisingly they have both had them pretty much done for the most part . Today all they are doing is typing up their all their data and conclusions and putting them on the project boards .

My ten year old daughter chose to do a really cool project . The title of her project is "How to blow up a balloon using household materials" . If you have never saw this performed , you should try it because it is really awesome . Take a 20 oz clear water bottle put in 1 cup of vinegar . Put 1Tablespoon of baking soda in the balloon and connect the open part of the balloon to the top of the bottle . Make sure the part of the balloon containing the baking soda is hanging down so that it doesn't drop into the bottle of vinegar . Once you have the balloon connected to the mouth of the bottle hold the balloon upright so that the baking soda drops into the bottle . Once the baking soda hits the vinegar the gases cause the balloon to expand . Sometimes it goes awry and you have to do it all over again but it does work and it is really cool to watch . My daughter first saw this performed during her first year in girl scouts and that is where she got the idea from .

My thirteen year old is doing a top secret project evidentally because she won't let any of us see what she is doing , nor will she talk about it . However , she has been on the computer typing away on a research paper that she has due tomorrow that I found quite interesting . The research is based on the song by Billy Joel "We Didn't Start The Fire" . The two people that she has to research and tell the purpose for their names being mentioned in the song are John F. Kennedy and John Glenn . I really can't wait to see the outcome of this research paper .

Anyways , that is why I haven't been on the computer the past couple of days . I hope y'all have a good day !

Ah, that science project with the balloon sounds like the volcano experiment. When chemicals come together and expand... yeah, that's cool!

Oh, and when I was in school we had to recite that whole song for the teacher! I can't even believe I did it, but it was the most embarrassing thing I've ever done!

Sal.. Thanks , I won't ! :)

Damasta.. Yeah I done the volcano project one year in middle school and won third place with it . School seems to go along with some of the most embarrassing moments of our lives doesn't it ? hehe !:)

Hi Breazy,
Thanks for the comment. I'd love to link to your site and you're welcome to do the same. I'm not that computer literate so it may take awhile before I add you, but I'll be back...(using my best Arnie impersonation.)

I am so going to do that balloon trick next time my favourite kid comes over. He's 11, and just at that stage where interesting facts fascinate him. He'll love it!

Don't forget to tell us when you discover what the secret project is. Unless of course it has something to do with nuclear fission, in which case we will disavow all knowledge of you and your mission. ^_^
