are you ready ?

I will be changing the subject a bit so hang in there with me !

First off , I finally got my Christmas tree put up . Normally the tree goes up Thanksgiving night or at the latest the next day but we didn't get home on Thanksgiving night until almost midnight so that was out . I couldn't take it anymore Monday night and finally put it up . If you look closely you will notice that the left side is shaped better , that is because Mr. Breazy helped me assemble the tree this year and he didn't fluff and spread the branches like he was supposed to but I didn't fuss since I needed the help. I have since amended that problem . You will also notice that our tree has no star on it , that is because the star I had was several years old and once Mr. Breazy attached it to the top it broke and came tumbling down so I have to buy a new one . All of the kids help decorate the tree and we use a lot of ornaments that they have made in church and school , I think it gives the tree character . I also use glass balls of assorted colors and little wrapped presents . Not only did I get my tree up but I am going to finish my Christmas shopping this Saturday .. YAY!!!! This is the first year in a long time that I have finished this early . I will tell you a secret but we have to keep it extra quiet . My son has been wanting a dirtbike for two years now and all his Christmas list consisted of this year was dirtbike and accessories . Well , he will probably have a heart attack Christmas morning because we purchased a brand new dirtbike last week . It is a 50, automatic , four stroke , blue and red ! I can't wait to see his face !

From October 1st until January 1st is my favorite time of year and I normally go all out with the decorations but this year I just can't seem to get into the spirit like I usually do . I am in the Christmas spirit but not so much that I am putting lights and things up outside like I usually do and I think it is because I know this is our last Christmas here , next Christmas we will be in our new home . I was out running errands the other day and I told my husband later that night that I had actually drove by this house during the day and it didn't feel like home to me , it has been that way since we moved here . Nothing is wrong with the place or anything but I am ready to be home and home to me is on the land where our new home is going to be built.

Tonight I had to take my son to the courthouse so he could play the bells and sing with the rest of his class for the special "Lighting of the Trees " ceremony . It was fun and the kids did a great job. Tomorrow he has a field trip in Townsend (next town over from us) at the Smoky Mountain Heritage Center and they will play the bells and sing again then they will tour the museum to see the displays about Native American and Pioneer culture. The kids have been studying Native American and Pioneer culture the last month or so and my son has really loved it . I pulled out all of the info on our family since my great-great grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee . My son couldn't understand why we don't look like indians since we have the blood and I had to explain to him how it is diluted and so on . I also showed him some of his facial characteristics that showed the tiny amount of Cherokee he does have . I really enjoyed spending that time with him and I wish the girls would get really interested in our family history .

Okay , now for the most exciting news ...... they are starting construction on our house sometime next week . We have a pre-construction meeting with our construction manager tomorrow to go over everything one more time and this will be our last chance to change any of the plans , which we won't . They have been hiring more and more work crews because they are getting busier and busier and all means that our house will be done quickly but not so quickly that it will be slapped together . We will be in by the end of March which delights me more than you know . Y'all probably won't be able to stand me by the time the house is complete because I am estatic !!

Last but not least , I received some holiday crapola in the mail the other day from a beautiful woman in California and I just had to have my son model the colorful shirt that was in the package . In his hand he has a burger and fries from Dairy Queen . From what I hear this shirt has been all over the country and several children have posed for a pic . My son was all for a pic in the shirt and he just had to hold the burger and fries . Thanks Susie!

Yesterday I was at home going over some paperwork when Mr. Breazy called . He told me that he had been hurt at work and he was just taking a minute to calm down and get his breath . If you remember my husband owns his own business so it isn't like he can't take a break if need be . Anyways, when I asked what happened he told me that he was using the table saw cutting a board when the saw knocked the board out or as a man who works in wood would say " the saw kicked the board out" .It hit my husbands right hand and knocked it behind his back then it hit his right leg and knocked it out from under him . When he pulled his right hand around in front of him his index and middle finger were laying over on his ring finger ... blech!! He said blood was gushing from the middle finger as well and the deformity of his fingers shocked him so bad that he grabbed them and jerked them back into place . It scared me witless and even though he was a couple counties over I wanted to go pick him up and take him to the doctor , he said no he would be alright . When he got home two hours later I was ready to go to the doctor but he wouldn't have it . He said there was nothing they could do for him and I told him I thought maybe some stiches could be thrown in the middle finger . He then took off his bandage and showed me his middle finger.... blech again!! Half of that fingernail is gone , it goes up diagonally and there is a huge chunk of his finger gone . Nothing that won't heal mind you but still it is not there . I called the doctor immediately and for once my husband was right , there is nothing they can do for him so they told me how to care for and cleanse the wound . They also told me to watch for angry red looking skin and if he has that get him to the ER ASAP. He is sore but doing okay and he went back to work this morning as if nothing had happened .

I will have some pics of our land to post on Monday so y'all come back!

Be safe and stay warm!

****I actually had several more pics and a few more things to say but blogger has decided to be special and it is late at night so maybe I can post those soon****

Scary stuff re Mr B's hand. I'm glad you rang the doctor. Even if there's nothing that can be done, it's better if it's the doctor telling you that, not the patient assuming so. :) Hope he mends up okay.
