vacation is over..

We left Friday evening around 6:30PM coming home. Another bad thunderstorm had settled over us so we decided to head on out and miss the majority of the traffic.

We arrived at the beach last Saturday around noon. Throughout our entire drive it had been overcast and stormy looking but we had not had rain. We stopped to have lunch then went and got the keys for our condo. Once at the condo we unpacked then relaxed for a couple of hours. After that we headed down to the beach for some fun before going grocery shopping and out for dinner. The pic below is my son, about two minutes after this pic was taken it started sprinkling rain and thundering so we headed back to the condo to shower and go out. We hadn't been in the van five minutes when the bottom dropped out and we experienced the worst thunderstorm that I have ever saw at the beach in my fourteen years of going. It stormed all night and into the early morning hours but when we got up the next morning the rain and dark clouds were gone.

If you look really closely in this pic you will see my eldest offspring standing on our balcony. See the center four balconies? Ours is the bottom right one. You can barely make out a white T-shirt, that is C. She had stayed in the condo after lunch to watch some tv and nap a bit. She ended up getting sunburned this year worse than most years...I kept telling her to re-apply the 60spf sunblock but she didn't listen.

This is a view from our balcony, as you can see there is another thunderstorm raining down as I took this pic . There is another pic at the bottom of this post that looks like this one but they were taken on different days, I promise.

I am probably going to die over posting this pic but it was one of my favorites that I took this year. This is my middle child B. We had just went down to the beach after lunch and I didn't realize that my camera had fogged up from the difference in temperature when I snapped this one. I had been joking with B telling her to pose for me and she wasn't liking it a bit. A few minutes later I called her name and when she saw the camera she turned to hide herself. I was still standing there but put the camera down when B spotted something that grabbed her interest, that is when I snapped the pic. She is not going to be happy that I posted this pic but I couldn't help but share it.

I took the next four pics while we were out for a walk on the beach one evening. C, my mom, and my dad had stayed in the condo to rest while Mr. B and I took the other two out for a nice little walk. I made them all stand still so I could get them with the ocean to their backs. Right before this pic my son had got in too much of a hurry and fell in the wateron his back, he tried to pull it off as an accident but I had his number before he done it simply because I told them not to get their clothes soaking wet.

We had to keep an eye on the sky during our walk because another thunderstorm was heading our way. This pic was shot looking over the dunes and rooftops at the oncoming clouds.

You couldn't tell it was going to storm by looking out over the ocean.

Ty wanted a pic by himself with the ocean behind him so he could show all of his friends.

Thursday we took a Shelling and Lighthouse Tour. This is the deserted beach where we got dropped off to search for shells. This place is beautiful and so peaceful, I loved hearing the history on it and all the other land heading out to it .

We had decided that we would leave Friday night so that we wouldn't be sitting in traffic for two or three hours if we left on Saturday. We went out for supper and while eating another bad thunderstorm came. We went back to the condo, finished packing, loaded the van, snapped some pics and left. This pic is of Mr. B and I. I have rain drops all over me, my face is wet from where the wind was blowing the rain back on me and the wind had arranged my hair as it pleased, even Mr. B's hair, what little he has with the short cut, was wind blown and messed up.

This is the last pic that I snapped. We were heading out the door to come home but I had to run back out on the balcony and snap one more pic of the ocean. The wind was blowing like crazy and rain was going everywhere, as you can see.

We had a really great vacation, it went by too fast but don't they always? This year I didn't really take that many pics. Normally I have loads of them but this year I took only 50. We are going back in October while the kids are on their fall break from school because Mr. B and my dad are going to take a deep sea fishing trip. Sometimes you can still swim in October and sometimes you can't but it doesn't matter to us because there is always shopping and staying at the condo and relaxing. I am thinking that maybe I might go on that fishing trip with the guys. I don't know how I will react when land is no longer in sight but I am willing to try anything once.

I was happy to get back home to my bed this year. At home we have one of the very comfy pillow top mattresses so when we got to the condo and slept on the regular firm mattress it was very different and not to our liking.

Thank you all for your comments while I was away and I will try to get around to read your blogs either today or tomorrow.

Take care!

Glad you had a nice time relaxing, even if it was stormy. I have never been to the ocean. :( Oh, well. Maybe some day...

Loved the pictures. Thanks for sharing. Who knows. Maybe in October the weather will be perfect and still warm enough to swim. It seems that warm days still linger in October the last few years. :)

Great pics! Glad you all had a great time, even with what looks like more rain than you'd hoped for.

Yeah, unfortunately vacations always go by too fast!
