Chugging right along

It has been over a month since I have been here and I promised myself that I was not going to be absent for long periods of time anymore. Oh well, it couldn't be helped because I've had more pressing matters going on. Anyway...

At this time, I only have 3 weeks left of this semester...yay! That four month break can't come quick enough for me, I am beyond ready for a break. My Bethany will be graduating high school on May 20th and I have known this was coming (obviously), but my goodness it has arrived so quickly. We are currently shopping for prom dresses and that has been fun. Bethany is finally in to pink! Pink is my favorite color and I have told her for years that she looks so pretty in pink and she is just now starting to see it. To be precise, she wants a prom dress in coral which is also beautiful on her.

I am working on my last paper in English. I was given two speeches to choose from. We are writing a rhetorical analysis on the speech we choose. Our two choices are The Inaugural Address of Governor George Wallace of Alabama..."The Segregation Now, Segregation Forever" speech from January 1963 and a speech that was done in 2005 for the Kenyon College graduating class by David Foster Wallace. I have chosen the college commencement speech because it is very different from the normal commencement speech given at college graduations. It is a little depressing and down but Mr. Wallace wraps it up nicely. I don't think I could write a good paper on the Governors speech because during a time of integration his speech was all about segregation and I didn't like his hateful, racial delivery. It is amazing to me how politicians can do speeches about bad topics and make them sound so good because they know how to incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos in just the right way to appeal to the audience. So in order to keep from stressing and getting mad, I have chosen the commencement speech.

Anyway, I hope everyone in blogland is doing well and I will be back as soon as I have time.
