We finally received some rain after I can't remember how many days without. Everything was starting to look all yellow and dead but now it is looking more like fall which is my favorite time of year. Yesterday we took the kids and went to Gatlinburg for a day of fun. The scenery on the drive was absolutely breathtaking, to me anyways. It doesn't really matter what season we are in I love our mountains.
With fall underway I always start changing our menu around so that we can have more seasonal type foods but still stay in the fresh department. I have been craving beef stew for a couple of weeks now and since we really have nothing to do today I threw all the ingredients in the crock pot to cook and simmer for a few hours, my house is smelling so good right now. I have been using my crock pot a lot lately because I haven't had time to stand over the stove and make a meal, I refuse to serve frozen sodium loaded dishes that you pop in the oven for thirty minutes or more and after eating them you feel as if you swallowed a balloon and gained a hundred pounds while doing it.
Football season will be over for us after Monday's game, the only thing after that is the Super Bowl, award banquet, and the Christmas parade none of which require four nights a week of practice well they may continue to practice some until the S.B. but I don't think it will be four a week.
I have noticed that once again stores are already displaying their Christmas items. This really bothers me because I feel like they need to let us get Halloween over with. I love Christmas and decorating for it but it seems each year the Christmas items go out early and that burns me out as far as the decoration part goes. By the time the holiday arrives I will be praying for stores to remove the items.
I will be making my way around blogland today at some point or the other to read all of your blogs.
Y'all have a great day!

You've got a lot of reading to do at mine.
I am cheerful to see all the Christmas decor in the stores already, speaking of seasonal items. I, too, am changing out my menu. It's finally not too hot to grill outside! YAY! Let's eat steak!
I don't like the Christmas stuff being out so early, but at least here Christmas IS the next big holiday. I never get why US stores would be displaying on a Christmas theme when you still have Halloween AND thanksgiving to come. Weird.
Halloween & Christmas round the corner already!
How time flies!
:) I hope you enjoyed your stew.
I sometimes wonder why stores bother taking their Christmas displays down at all. Before very long, they'll be out right after Labor day... maybe even Fourth of July.
If you have a sec, I was hoping you might stop by and sign the virtual birthday card I posted for Lime.
Now there you go mentioning two things I love......beef stew and Gatlinburg haha. I agree with everyone else that the Christmas stuff comes out too early but if people weren't out buying the stuff no matter when it gets put out then maybe the stores wouldn't insist on trying to get the jump on everyone else.
Sorry I have not been by here much lately but work has had me soooooo dang busy all this year. Best wishes to you and your family!
